Wholesale Bingo Supplies Introduces Scholarship

WholesaleBingoSupplies.com has introduced its Wholesale Bingo Supplies Scholarship. Schools are a large part of their charity bingo customer base, and we wantd to give back to those schools by helping students out in a small way.

The Wholesale Bingo Supplies Scholaship is a $500 scholarship with a fairly easy application process. Meant to be more fun than difficult, the application simply asks future and current students to answer a small series of questions. The winner will be chosen

A Belated Happy New Year!

I know, I know...it's now January 6th, so that's admittedly pretty late. I apologize for that, but things have been fairly busy around here, as is the case probably everywhere. It sometimes seems like each new year brings new and greater responsiblities, but that's not all bad. We've got some new and fun stuff that we've been working on.

Okay, now that I've droned on a little, what "new and fun stuff" am I talking about. First, we've created what we believe is the first scholarship in the bingo supplies industry, called simply the Wholesale Bingo Supplies Scholarship. We'll go into more depth on this in a later post, but if you know of a student or future student that may be interested, you should have them check it out.

We've also should have a redesign of our popular Robbie Rotten bingo dauber available shortly. We love this design and think that it will be very popular with bingo players.

Speaking of redesigns, our partner site Discount Party Supplies has received a bit of a makeover. It looks great and is even easier to use. So, if you need themed party supplies (i.e. plates, napkins, cups, etc.) for birthdays, holidays, special events or more, please check it out.

Pulltabs Jamming in Your Ticket Machine? Here's 3 Quick Tips.

Probably the #1 bingo related service call we receive is about pulltabs (charity tickets) jamming in a bingo or club's pulltab machine. Often, a ticket jam is a pretty easy thing to fix, but can be a real pain if it keeps happening, especially if the person in charge has to make repeated trips back and forth to fix a machine.

To help prevent pulltab jams:

1. Don't write on your pulltabs with a permanent marker. Some bingos like to do this to help with their counts, but this can cause pulltabs to stick together.

2. Don't over-fan your tickets to remove ticket dust. This can bend them more than it's worth. If you do fan them, do so gently.

3. If your pulltabs are bowed, they can hurt dispensing performance. Different machines work better with the bowside up or down depending on the type and manufacturer. Ask your bingo supplier for help.

Forbes Ranks Michigan Cities Among the Worst for Jobs

Many of you may or not know that this blog and Wholesale Bingo Supplies are located in Jackson, Michigan. Therefore, we can tell you firsthand that Michigan has been hit extremely hard with a poor economy for a number of years now. Still, to have Jackson given the distinction of "Worst Small City" for jobs by Forbes magazine was surprising.

From Forbes:

"Given the failing auto industry, it's no surprise Jackson tops the list of worst small cities for jobs. Located in the South Central area of Michigan, the city's two largest employers are CMS Energy, Michigan's main electric and natural gas utility, and Michigan Automotive Compressor, which produces air conditioning compressors and magnetic clutches for cars. Between 2003 and 2008, jobs in the natural resources, mining and construction sector dropped almost 30%; those in manufacturing dropped 13.5%. Overall employment has declined 9.2% since 1997."

Jackson wasn't alone. Four other Michigan cities are ranked in the top ten.

Bingo Heats Up as Nightlife Entertainment

At Wholesale Bingo Supplies, we're always trying to pay attention to the latest trends in bingo. And, we're encouraged by what's going on in Minnesota.

Bingos there are adding new club-like elements of fun and excitement to their bingos and, as a result, drawing younger crowds. At the same time they're keeping their older regular players. While we're not saying you should immediately go out and add flashing lights and loud music to your bingo, you may want to keep an eye on this.

Wholesalebingosupplies.com, our online bingo supplies and bingo equipment store should be up and running in the near future.

We will carry everything from bingo paper to bingo ink to bingo bags to the smaller novelty bingo items. It will feature a wide selection of bingo daubers from all of the major manufacturers, as well as, the smaller newcomers. Trust me, this site will have all of your standard and not so standard bingo supplies.

Electronic Bingo Still Gaining Momentum

Every month, more and more of our bingo customers are signing up for and enjoying the benefits of electronic bingo.

For those of you who don't know (and that number is dwindling every day), electronic bingo allows bingo players to play bingo cards electronically. Players have cards loaded into handheld units similar to large calculators and play these alongside their bingo paper books.

Initially popular in mainly the larger commercial halls, players all over Michigan are now embracing the fun of electronic bingo. Smaller bingos have caught on and are now bringing the excitement to their players.

Players that want electronics must spend a little extra for the privelage, and that's where the charities benefit. It's not uncommon for bingos using electronics to make $100's more in profit per bingo session. Player's love them and frequently demand them.
